*Fall Reopening Update from Superintendent Morse*

Dear OUSD families and staff,

As you may have read, the Ventura County Office of Education today released a list of school districts in Ventura County that will move to a distance-learning only model in the new school year.

We too are concerned about the increase of COVID rates in our county and the safety of all students and staff. We are also concerned about the impact that full distance-learning may have on student learning, working families, and our students who need extra support in areas such as Special Education.

We will be discussing the options for fall reopening in light of these multiple concerns at our school board meeting on July 22 at 5:30 pm. Ultimately, our plan will be based on careful consideration for the safety of our students, staff, families, and community members.

If you would like to submit a public comment to be heard at the board meeting, you may do so here .The board meeting can be viewed live, or recorded, here.

These times call for us to remain diligent to public health concerns and make the best decisions possible for all of our stakeholders. There are no easy decisions about the return to learning in the fall. We appreciate your patience as we work collaboratively with our families and staff to make the best choices possible and seek to create solutions to provide as many flexible options as possible.

Take Care,

Dr. Tiffany Morse, Superintendent
